Cross-Site Content Import System
Faster bulk content migration
Challenge
The client needed to bring products and posts in from another site — a custom Laravel build with its own custom fields — which made a simple CSV export/import unworkable out of the box. Done manually, adding content one item at a time was slow and didn't scale as the catalog grew.
Solution
I built a cross-site import system that pulls content from a source WordPress site and creates it on the target site in bulk, with images, taxonomies and custom fields intact.

How it works
- Fetches content from the source site via its REST API
- Maps post types, taxonomies and custom fields between the two sites
- Imports in batches, so large jobs don't time out
- Downloads media once and deduplicates it on re-imports
- Skips or updates items that were already imported (no duplicates)
What I built
- ✓Dual ingestion paths — API-based pull or CSV upload
- ✓Custom field mapping between the Laravel source structure and WordPress/ACF
- ✓One-click or one-upload imports instead of manual per-item entry
- ✓Planned: auto-detection of new source fields, gated behind admin confirmation before anything is created
Results
- ✓What used to be added one item at a time now takes a few minutes for a full batch
- ✓Consistent content across sites, without copy-paste errors
- ✓A reusable tool, not a one-off script
