Challenge

The business sold configurable products but didn't take payment online. Every sale started as a quote. Installing full WooCommerce just to collect quote requests would have added checkout, payment and order machinery the business didn't need, along with its page weight and maintenance.

Solution

I built a lightweight quote system. Customers choose product variations, add them to a quote list and submit a request, with no checkout and no payment step. The team reviews quotes in wp-admin.

Custom quote flow: choose variations, add to the quote list, submit a request, admin review, sync to Zoho CRM

How it works

  • Products with variations (e.g. size and configuration) modeled without WooCommerce
  • A session-based quote list that works like a cart
  • The request is saved as a structured quote record with full line items
  • Admin notifications and a review screen
  • Later extended to sync quotes to Zoho CRM in real time. See the Zoho CRM sync case study.

What I built

  • ✓Variable product selection reused directly from the existing WooCommerce catalog
  • ✓A quote request flow that bypasses the full WooCommerce checkout
  • ✓Real-time quote sync to Zoho CRM on submission
  • ✓Automated abandoned-quote email sequence: Day 1 → Day 3 → Day 30 → Day 60 follow-up
  • ✓Architecture built to extend — new functionality added post-launch without a rebuild

Results

  • ✓A lighter quote flow than a full WooCommerce checkout
  • ✓A real, if modest, page-speed improvement from not loading WooCommerce
  • ✓A foundation that later plugged directly into the CRM
